San Diego police investigating 'suspicious' death near Las Americas Premium Outlets mall

SAN DIEGO — Homicide detectives from the San Diego Police Department were called in to investigate what is being called a suspicious death in the early hours of the Fourth of July holiday, police officials said Tuesday.

Dispatchers received a call about 12:25 a.m. from someone reporting a body inside a vehicle near the Las Americas Premium Outlets shopping center in San Ysidro, police said.

Upon arrival, police found the body of a woman inside a vehicle parked near the intersection of Camino De La Plaza and Virginia Avenue. Once it was determined that the woman appeared to be the victim of a crime, homicide detectives were summoned to the scene. The investigation is under way and ongoing, officials said.

Additional information is expected to be released later Tuesday, according to San Diego police.
