San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama To Miss NBA Season

Victor Wembanyama

San Antonio Spurs rising star Victor Wembanyama is facing a setback in his promising NBA career as he is set to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season due to a shoulder injury. The 21-year-old center has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, a condition that was discovered after he returned from the All-Star Game in San Francisco.

Wembanyama, who was named the Rookie of the Year last season, was having an outstanding year, earning his first All-Star selection. Throughout the current season, he has been a dominant force on the court, averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Notably, in a game against the Washington Wizards in November 2024, Wembanyama showcased his scoring prowess by dropping a career-high 50 points. This achievement solidified his status as one of the most promising young talents in the league, joining the ranks of elite players like Devin Booker, LeBron James, and Brandon Jennings.

Prior to his injury, Wembanyama was also a frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year award, showcasing his defensive skills with an average of 3.8 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Unfortunately, due to missing the required number of games, he will no longer be eligible for the prestigious award.

The Spurs organization expressed their support for Wembanyama as he focuses on his recovery and looks ahead to returning to the court in full health. Despite this setback, the young center's talent and potential continue to shine bright, and fans eagerly await his return to action in the upcoming seasons.
