Samsung To Bring Galaxy AI Features To Older Galaxy Handsets

Samsung and Google Cloud Join Forces To Bring Generative AI to Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

Samsung has announced that it will be rolling out its flagship AI features to older Galaxy handsets starting from the end of March. This move will bring the new Galaxy AI technology to almost all major mobile devices launched by Samsung in 2023, including the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Fold and Flip handsets, and the Tab S9 series.

The company's President and head of mobile, TM Roh, stated that this initiative is just the beginning of Galaxy AI, with plans to extend the experience to over 100 million Galaxy users by 2024. By offering these AI tools such as Live Translate, Circle to Search, Note Assist, and generative image editing to existing users for free, Samsung aims to enhance the user experience across its devices.

While the current AI features will be provided for free until at least the end of 2025, there is speculation that Samsung may introduce paid subscriptions for certain advanced features in the future. This strategic move not only benefits users but also presents a significant revenue opportunity for the Korean manufacturer.

Furthermore, Samsung is exploring ways to make its smartphones more user-friendly and efficient through AI integration. The potential for AI to simplify complex tasks and enhance usability is evident, as demonstrated by Google's Gemini for Android app, which streamlines content scanning and summarization.

In a recent update, Samsung introduced the Try Galaxy promotional app, allowing both Android and iOS users to experience the new Galaxy AI capabilities firsthand. This interactive guide showcases the AI features through detailed demonstrations, offering a glimpse into the future of AI-powered smartphones.

Looking ahead, Samsung is already planning to expand its AI features beyond smartphones to wearable devices. The upcoming Galaxy Ring, equipped with AI technology, will focus on enhancing digital health by tracking vital health metrics and providing personalized health recommendations.

With a commitment to integrating AI into its product ecosystem, Samsung is poised to revolutionize the user experience and drive innovation in the tech industry.
