Samsung has introduced its latest line of Bespoke AI appliances, which aim to revolutionize the way we interact with home devices. These innovative products include a refrigerator with a built-in camera capable of recognizing up to 33 food items and suggesting meal ideas through its 32-inch display. The refrigerator also features a smart food management system that alerts users when food items are about to expire.
Aside from the refrigerator, Samsung's Bespoke AI range includes features such as Welcome Cooling, which allows users to cool their homes from a distance, and AI Geo-fencing, enabling commands to be set for appliances based on the user's proximity. While these features may not strictly be AI-driven, they add convenience and efficiency to everyday tasks.
The Bespoke AI technology extends to other appliances as well, such as the microwave and front load washing machines. The microwave can assist in preparing personalized diet recipes, while the washing machines learn and adapt to the user's laundry routines over time, optimizing wash cycles accordingly.
Moreover, these appliances are equipped with the Bixby voice assistant, enabling users to control them through voice commands. For instance, users can ask Bixby to display the contents of the refrigerator or activate specific modes on the air conditioner.
In addition to enhancing user experience, Samsung emphasizes the sustainability benefits of AI integration in appliances. The Bespoke AI technology helps prolong the lifespan of appliances by notifying users of maintenance needs, such as water filter replacements or air conditioner filter changes. The AI Energy Mode further contributes to energy efficiency, offering savings of up to 10% in refrigerators, 20% in air conditioners, and 70% in washing machines.
According to Samsung, their 5-star rated refrigerator alone can reduce CO2 emissions by 359kg/year. With the AI Energy Mode, these savings increase by 10%, resulting in a significant reduction of overall CO2 emissions by 395kg/year.
