Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra cameras: every sensor and lens

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra excels in numerous ways, and if you’ve read our full Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review, you’ll know that includes its cameras.

With four snappers on the back and one on the front there are a lot of options here, helped out by AI tools and a new ISP (image signal processor).

If you’re curious about exactly what the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s cameras are capable of, read on for a detailed look at their specs and features. And if you aren’t set on the Ultra yet, check out our hands-on Samsung Galaxy S25 review and our hands-on Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus review.

What cameras does the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra have?

As you can see from the chart above, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has four cameras on the back, headlined by a 200MP f/1.7 wide camera with OIS (optical image stabilization).

While you might often find yourself shooting in a pixel-binned 12MP mode, that large number of megapixels can make a real difference, with our reviewer noting that “I appreciated how some of the photos I took with the 200MP main camera had more detail in them than what I get with the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 50MP main camera.”

Then there’s a 50MP f/1.9 ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view, and this is the one sensor that’s had an upgrade, as it replaces a 12MP one on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

This snapper doubles as a macro shooter, so the change here is almost like getting two upgrades, and our Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review was impressed by it, and particularly in its night-time performance.

Next up there’s a 50MP f/3.4 periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and this camera can also take lossless 10x zoom photos using a sensor crop (as well as reaching up to 100x with an AI-enhanced digital zoom).

Finally as far as the rear cameras go, there’s a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. So that’s a lot of different zoom levels you can get. You can see how these cameras performed in practice in the samples below.

You also get a front-facing camera of course, which as with most of the lenses and sensors is the same as the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – namely a 12MP f/2.2 one.

Note that as well as taking photos, you can also use the rear cameras to shoot videos in up to 8K quality at up to 30fps, while the front-facing camera can shoot in up to 4K quality at up to 60fps.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is also packed full of photography modes and features, some of which are new.

There’s an Expert RAW mode for example, which is designed for pro photographers and which now lets you virtually adjust the aperture from f/1.4 to f /16.

There are also a lot of AI tools that you can make use of when taking or editing photos, including a rather impressive object eraser.
