Samantha Mumba excited to host new radio show

98FM today unveiled a new look and sound as well as some new voices to host slots at the station, including that of Irish pop legend Samantha Mumba.

Samantha will present a Saturday night music show Good Time Anthems kicking off this weekend.

Speaking about the announcement, the singer said: "As someone who grew up listening to the station and literally calling in with song requests so I could record them on my tape recorder this is a lovely full circle."

The station also revealed its new brand identity and tagline as Dublin’s Good Times.

As part of the rebrand, Dublin actor and playwright Emmet Kirwan will take to the airwaves as station voiceover.

98FM's Dublin’s Good Times promises music lovers the "very best Old Skool & Anthems from Dance, Hip Hop and R&B including classic anthems from Daft Punk, Eminem, Destiny’s Child and the Black Eyed Peas complimented by today’s best."

Additionally, the station announced Leanne Hanafin as presenter for weekday evenings and Niamh Ni Chroinin and Andy Gleeson joining for weekends on the station.

Niamh will also host a revamped Totally Irish show on 98FM (Sundays from 9pm to 11pm) which will focus on playing the best old school anthems made here in Ireland whilst introducing listeners to "the freshest new Irish sounds and some classic live performances".

Meanwhile, Karl Dawson will now be heard every Saturday and Sunday morning on the station. Karl made it to the final of RTE’s Last Singer Standing recently as drag alter ego Dame Stuffy and proved hugely popular with audiences.

Managing Editor, Music & Entertainment at Bauer Media Audio Ireland said of the new 98FM look and sound: "“With Dublin’s Good Times, 98FM is for a Dublin audience who, in the noughties, were out discovering life, having their first big relationships, holidays, responsibility free and just living their best life.

"There is nothing like 98FM in the Dublin market for audiences, I’m confident listeners are going to love how it makes you feel."
