Sam Thompson and Zara Mcdermott make U turn on baby plans after sister Louise's trauma

Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott could soon be planning to start a family of their own after growing close to his sister’s baby son.

The 29-year-old Made In Chelsea star has been dating 25-year-old former Love Island contestant Zara since 2019 and had recently said he was reluctant to start a family just yet.

The reality star is said to have been shaken by 31-year-old sister Louise Thompson’s near death experience that she endured when she welcomed her and fiancé Ryan Libbey’s baby boy, Leo, last November.

But now that Sam and Zara have grown close to baby Leo, the couple are opening up to the idea of beginning a family of their own.

A source told new! magazine: “Zara has been spending lots of time with Louise’s baby and posting lots of pictures. She has always been the one who is forward-thinking in terms of having a family – it’s definitely in the forefront of her mind.

“Sam was the one who has put it off, but it’s now becoming a bit more equal in their relationship. After what Louise went though, it may have made him think about his mortality, life and having a family.

“A lot of their friends have started to pair off and marry and have kids. Having that influence around him is probably going to turn his head to the idea.”

Sam had previously hinted he had babies on his mind after completing renovations of his London home – but confessed he felt it might be too soon to plan having a baby.

He said: “I feel this is a home I can live in, I can maybe bring up kids one day. I feel very proud of it.”

He added: “I don’t want to be a really old dad – but I do need to grow up a little bit first.”

Sam’s sister Louise spent five weeks in hospital after giving birth to Leo as she battled health complications caused by a traumatic birth.

She told fans via social media last December: "One ended up in NICU and the other ended up in ICU.”

Sam paid tribute to his sister at the time, writing on his own Instagram feed: "The most beautiful baby made by the bravest woman I know.”

While Zara had also paid tribute to Louise, writing in the comments to the ex-Made In Chelsea star’s baby news post: "Literally couldn't be prouder of you. Your strength through this ordeal has been incredible and know that all of us are with you to hold your hand every single step of the way. We love you so much Louise."

In the weeks since, Sam and Zara have bonded with baby Leo and have shared social media posts about him for fans and followers to fawn over.

Zara has branded the baby boy her “tiny best friend” in posts, while Sam has shared a beaming photo of himself cradling the baby boy.
