Sam Smith misgendered on GMB again as Ranvir Singh scrambles to correct herself

Ranvir Singh made the mistake while introducing the designer who created Sam Smith's show-stopping BRITs latex look on Monday's instalment of Good Morning Britain.

She began: "Still ahead on Good Morning Britain - Harry Styles may have swept the board at the BRITs but it was Sam Smith who stole the show with this dramatic latex balloon like suit."

Misgendering the non-binary singer, the GMB presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star said: "How did he get in it? Who designed it? And why did he choose..."

Correcting herself, the host quickly realised her mistake and added: "They! Why did they choose it?"

GMB viewers were quick to spot the mistake as one tweeted: "@GMB probably should brief Ranvir that @samsmith identifies as they/them?"

Another wrote: "Sam smith prefers to use pronouns of them/they," while a third asked: "@gmb didn't you brief correctly about pronouns to be used with Sam Smith?"

Sam is non-binary and changed their pronouns to they/them in 2019.

Their BRITs look went viral as the Unholy singer walked the red carpet in a distinctive jumpsuit, designed by Harri, with inflatable arms and legs.

Just last month GMB presenter Richard Madeley apologised for for misgendering Sam.

Richard had been debating with Susanna Reid whether or not the singer's latest music video for I'm Not Hear To Make Friends if over-sexualised.

The host made the mistake when describing the contents of the controversial music video.

"So for the purposes of this debate, let’s just carefully read out some of the stuff we didn’t show you,” Richard began.

“Men filmed from behind gyrating while wearing leather trousers with the bottom cut out in a heart shape, a shot of him, Sam, spanking..."

“Them,” Susanna corrected but Richard continued: “And simulating a very specific act with a scantily-clad drag queen.”

“Remember Sam Smith uses the pronouns ‘they’," Susanna reminded her co-host.

The singer recently revealed in an interview the positive impact changing their pronouns has had on the star.

“Since changing my pronouns, it felt like a coming home. I wish I knew what the words were when I was in school, because I would’ve identified as that in school,” they told Zane Lowe, during an interview on Apple Music 1.

“Because it is who I am and it’s who I’ve always been.”
