Sam Smith has confirmed their collaboration with pop icon Madonna on a new single, titled Vulgar.
The hitmakers announced the duet on their respective social media platforms after teasing the project in recent weeks.
Sharing the news on her Instagram, Madonna posted a split image of two different corsets in black and white sporting their initials, S and M, in neon fuchsia text alongside the track’s title at the bottom of the shot.
The Vogue songstress captioned the photo: “VULGAR... new song out Friday June 9th.”
Meanwhile, Smith shared a video that flashed the words, “Sam and Madonna SXM Vulgar June 9th” on screen while a snippet of their new track played.
Following their joint announcement, their fans shared their delight over the collaboration and commented in their droves under their respective Instagram posts.
One fan shared: “And suddenly just like that I’m on the floor passed out.’”
“OMG I cannot wait,” another wrote. A third added: “What in the NUMBER ONE is this?!”
Another fan commented: “When I tell you my jaw DROPPED”.
The musicians first fuelled speculation about a potential collab after Madonna introduced Smith and Kim Petras’ Grammy performance back in February.
Then last week, fans believed that Smith was about to debut their track at their Manchester gig after they teased the surprise on Twitter.
However, concertgoers were left disappointed when the singer was forced to cancel the gig four songs in due to ill health.
Last week, the pair alluded to the duet when they shared a joint Instagram posts that simply featured the letters “S” and “M”, without confirming what it was for.
Once again, they hinted at the upcoming track with a video clip that flashed “Sam and Madonna” across the screen while their voices could be heard in the background.
