Sam Ryder is set to perform a huge Welsh concert at Swansea's Singleton Park this summer, it has been announced. The singer songwriter, who helped the United Kingdom achieve a second place finish in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, will take centre stage at the park on August 18.
It has been a meteoric rise to fame for the 33-year-old, after he first rose to prominence through TikTok, where he posted music covers through lockdown, catching the attention of Elton John and Alicia Keys, and becoming the most followed UK artist on the social media platform. He later signed a music contract with Parlophone, leading to the release of his first EP, which had 100 million global streams.
He is best known for his hit song Spaceman, which he performed at Eurovision, and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Concert. It reached number two in the UK charts, and his first album which followed, entitled 'There's Nothing But Space, Man!' topped the charts. Ryder will be supported at Singleton Park by Casey Lowry, an indie artist from Chesterfield, together with Swansea indie rock band Who's Molly. More acts are set to be announced in due course, according to Escape Records, which is promoting the event.
In December, we reported how the singer stunned shoppers in Cardiff Bay as he delivered a surprise pop-up gig to the delight of those in the area who were able to enjoy watching him perform his songs up close and personal. You can read more about that by clicking here.
Priority tickets go on sale on Thursday, March 9, at 10am and will start from £35. You can register to get yours by visiting the Escape Records website by clicking here.
