Rangers have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Sam Lammers with Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini ready to give the move the thumbs up, according to a report.
Michael Beale is currently working hard behind the scenes as he continues his summer overhaul at the Light Blues. Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent both departed at the end of contracts alongside three first-team team-mates while a number of fringe men could also head out of the club this summer.
Incomings have also kicked into gear with pre-contract moves agreed for trio Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland with the three newbies to hook up with their new club for the start of pre-season. Strikers are a priority on the transfer wish list and now the Scottish Sun report the Ibrox men have stepped up their pursuit of Lammers.
The Serie A side had put transfer business to one side while they held talks with boss Gasperini about his own future but with that sorted and a new deal extended he is ready to sell the Dutch striker to Rangers in a £3million transfer.
The 26-year-old joined his current club for an £8million fee back in 2020 but has since been farmed out on three different loan deals. He first spent time in Germany with Frankfurt before two different stints in Italy with Empoli and then Sampdoria.
Beale has now opened talks to bring him to Scotland and hopes to get a deal over the line soon with fellow hitman Cyriel Dessers at Cremonese another key target as is Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
Landing all three would take the summer recruitment list to six new signings as Rangers look to get the bulk of their business done early to hand them the best possible start in their bid to end Celtic's domestic dominance next term and also hand their Champions League quest the best possible chance with two qualifying rounds needed to reach the group stage.
