Sam Lammers has revealed he will hold talks with Rangers this week after AZ Alkmaar entered into the race to sign the on-loan striker to replace the top scorer in the Dutch League.
Lammers has been a revelation for Utrecht since joining on loan in January and has netted ten goals in his last 11 games for the club, including one in their European places play-off semi-final win against Sparta Rotterdam on Thursday.
They now face Go Ahead Eagles for a European spot today, which will be Lammers' last game for Utrecht this season.
And the 27-year-old could move to AZ in the summer after reports in the Netherlands suggested they had targeted the former Atalanta ace to replace the top scorer in the Netherlands, Vangelis Pavlidis, who has been linked with a big money move to England.
Now Lammers will sit down with Ibrox chiefs and Philippe Clement to discuss his future.
Lammers said: "I still have to contact the people at Rangers. That will happen as soon as the season is over.
"If I had spent the last few months focusing on where I will be playing next season, I really wouldn't have scored goals so easily."
"I have had a lot of questions about my future in recent weeks. To be honest, I am not concerned with that at all right now and I want to enjoy this moment.
"I just want to achieve European football for the club. When I came to Utrecht we also said that the goal was to achieve European football, which is now very close."
Dutch TV pundit, Hans Kraay, claimed that Lammers could move to another Dutch club for next season at AZ Alkmaar, who finished in fourth place at the Eredivisie.
The former Brighton, NAC Breda and De Graafschapp star said: "Sam Lammers has clearly been Utrecht's best player since he arrived on loan from Rangers.
"But he earns very good money at Rangers and the Scots paid a large part of his salary while on loan.
"They won't do that next season and Utrecht cannot afford his wages.
"I know that Sam Lammers is high on the list of new signings at AZ to replace Vangelis Pavlidis."
