Sam Heughan reveals he almost died whilst filming a movie in 2010

Sam Heughan is best known to many as Jamie Fraser in the hit TV show Outlander but before his rise to fame, he starred in various other productions.

The Scots actor has a number of show and movie credits to his name including Love Again, Suspect and River City.

But surprisingly, it appears that he's not loved every production he's worked on.

One of his first on-screen moments was in the titular role in Young Alexander the Great, which was released in 2010, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

It focused on the teenage days of the famous Macedonian general under the tutelage of Aristotle but was never put out on wide release.

And it seems Sam himself wasn't a big fan of the film - or his role.

During a recent interview, it was noted Young Alexander the Great had been rebranded as Born to be Great on IMDb with a future re-release date suggested.

Heughan admitted it was "news to me" before saying he had almost "died" while filming the swords-and-sandals epic which had a budget of just £6 million. Telling the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he might have "one or two" questions for his team, he joked: "It might be one of those things that one day, hopefully, will never surface."

And he went on: "Look. It was something I did many years ago. It was a low budget thing, I made some of the best friends on it.
