Sam Heughan drives truck around America with his face on to promote Sassenach whisky

Sam Heughan is on the road again but this time, it's not with Men in Kilts.

The Outlander actor is touring around America in his very own Sassenach whisky truck which has a huge picture of him emblazoned on the side.

A few weeks ago, Sam jetted off to New York to take part in Comic Con and since then he has taken full advantage of being State-side by promoting his whisky brand Sassenach.

Driving the truck along the East and West coast, Sam decided to pop into retailers and restaurants who will stock his whisky.

Posting a picture of him driving the truck on Instagram, Sam said: "Been driving the Sassenach Truck on the East and West coast USA, visiting some of the great retailers and restaurants who are going to stock @sassenachspirits! www.sassenachwhisky.com (Link in stories) Make sure you tag us, if you see our Truck of Gold! #sassenachwhisky #whisky #whiskey #samheughan #ad."

And Sam's pals were immediately commenting on this huge milestone for his business.

Fellow Outlander star David Berry wrote: "This is so baller! How am I friends with a dude that has his face on his own truck?"

And Men In Kilts co-star Graham McTavish said: "Did you remember to release the parking brake?"

While one fan wrote: "Omg! I would have a heart attack if l saw Sam driving this truck! Hooray for anyone that does! Post your pictures!!!"

Another penned: "Screams new aesthetic for me! Hot Scot driving a whisky truck!"

And one said: "Be on the outlook for a Sassenach truck with a hot Scot on it!!!"

Sam recently opened up about the struggles of being a business owner during lockdown.

Sassenach, like many other businesses, faced shortages over the last year and a half, with Sam saying a lack of bottle stoppers caused delays in distribution.

Speaking on the Bloomberg podcast with hosts Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec, Sam spoke about his business during the pandemic and how he's self-financed it.

He said: "It's impacted everything but business wise, more than anything it's delayed a lot of import and exports especially with our whisky.

He added: "Things are really slow globally it's really slow, we've been challenged with the cork for our stoppers in the bottles, and even just getting a container to transport our whisky across the UK."

Sam said his business is his baby and because he's done everything himself he's so proud of the brand he's created.

He said: "I'm really proud, self-financed, self-realised, I designed everything - every aspect!

"We haven't got any investors we've done it all ourselves. We've won seven double-gold medals from various awards, I'm just very proud of it, it's my baby."

As fans of the hit TV show will know, the name of the whisky, Sassenach, is a nod to the nickname Sam’s character Jamie has given his on-screen love interest Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe).

The Dumfries-born actor has also used the unicorn, the national animal of Scotland, for his logo.

He’s previously described the new whisky as rich, distinct, sweet and smooth, making it as approachable and appealing as possible to a wide range of whisky fans.
