Sam Heughan admits he's jealous at prospect of Outlander prequel show and adds he's surprised it's moving so quickly

With fans desperate for Outlander to go on for as long as possible, news that a possible prequel was in the works will be music to their ears.

One mega-fan, in particular, was delighted by the prospect, Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, was delighted by the news the show was further along than he had presumed.

The Scottish star was speaking to his friend and Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz on March 4, according to Cheat Sheet, when the subject of the new show came up.

“I knew it was in the wings," Sam stated. "I knew that was happening.

"I didn’t realise it was so far advanced. I saw Diana this weekend, and she was writing furiously."

He then joked that he would love nothing more than making an appearance.

"And I know they’re really excited," He added. "I’m excited for them, and I’m slightly jealous as well.

"I wonder if I can get in there."

If he doesn't get to star in any new prequel show, which is reported to be centred around the lives of, and the love story between, his parents on the show Brian and Ellen Fraser.

Both of them died either before the current Outlander story began (Ellen) or during the earlier seasons (Brian).

Speaking to Town and Country Mag Diana confirmed she'd been carrying the prequel story around in her head for "quite a while"

Adding: "I know quite a bit about it, and I've just started serious work on it, you might say. So I have actual scenes, things like that."
