Blackburn Rovers striker Sam Gallagher is looking forward to seeing Tony Mowbray for the first time since leaving Ewood Park. The Sunderland head coach will take on his former side in the opposite dugout for the first time since departing earlier this summer.
Rovers could move top of the league by securing back-to-back wins for the first time since August but Mowbray will be out to put a dent in those aspirations. The Black Cats head coach signed Gallagher from Southampton back in 2019 after a loan spell with the club.
The 27-year-old hopes Mowbray will receive a good welcome, admitting the contract situation left the club deflated after missing out on the play-offs last season.

"It will be good to see him and I hope he gets a good reaction," Gallagher told LancsLive. "He did amazing things for this club.
"I want to see him but it would be nice to get one over on him. He did loads for me, as a man and manager, I can't say I bad word about him.
"He had belief in me and others can say the same. We wanted to do it (get promoted) as much for him as we did for ourselves and for the club.
"He had so much belief in everyone and he wanted the best for us. When it came to that point where we had missed our opportunity, everyone was gutted.
"To have that much time at a club doesn't happen very often and for him to improve every year. It shows how good a manager he was."
