Sam Fender to perform at Brit Awards as he delights fans with big announcement

Sam Fender will perform at the Brit Awards, with him describing the announcement as "absolute insanity."

This year's bash, taking place at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, February 8, already looks like being one to remember for the North Shields singer as he is up for three awards and hotly tipped to take home at least one.

The last 12 months have seen Sam' s star rise even further, with his second album Seventeen Going Under outselling the rest of the top 10 combined as it went straight in at number 1 in the autumn..

The album, including the title track and other singles Get You Down and Spit of You, received rave reviews all over the world and has already received a number of accolades.

Next week it will compete to be named Album of the Year at the Brits, while Sam is up for Artist of the Year and Best Rock/Alternative, with fans able to vote for him to win the latter on TikTok.

And, on Monday morning, Sam revealed that as well as *fingers crossed* being on stage to pick up a trophy or two, he'll also be performing at the ceremony.

He told his ever growing number of Twitter followers: "We’re going to be performing at the @BRITs!!! Absolute insanity, it’s gonna be mint! You can help us pick up an award 3 days left to vote!"

One of his many fans replied: "I hope you're as proud of yourself as we all are of you! You deserve every bit of success coming your way; not only are you a talented musician, you're a decent human being too! Well done and good luck."

Another reacted: "SO PROUD OF YOU SAMMY BOY"

Urging fans to vote for him to win Best Rock/Alternative last week, Sam promised that, if he wins, the award will be going straight to his favourite boozer, Low Lights Tavern in North Shields, to be turned into a beer pump.

His Critics Choice award, which he won at the Brits on 2019, already has pride of place in the bar.
