North Shields rock star Sam Fender, has today been forced to cancel a performance at a major European festival - after suffering a bout of Laryngitis.
The 28-year-old was set to take to the main stage of Budapest's Sziget Festival tonight, but organisers confirmed around lunchtime that changes had to be made to accommodate for the singer/songwriter's illness.
In a post made to Sziget's official Facebook page, staff wrote: "We are very sad to announce that unfortunately due to Laryngitis, Sam Fender won't be able to perform today at Sziget Festival. We wish you a speedy recovery!"

And fans of the Will We Talk? singer wasted no time in sharing their disappointment that Sam would not take to the stage in Budapest this evening. One social media user, said: "3rd time I had a ticket and he cancelled. Great music though…" while another, wrote: "Gutted as many others will be."
Another blamed the festival's dusty conditions for the bizarre illness, writing: "Well I think every single person at the festival must be fighting with some kind of laryngitis. I just checked, and there is each and every cause present, most of all the giant dust.
"The organisers definitely will have to do something with the dust problem, since it will affect the artists as well, just like in this case."
Another, added: "Was there in 2018, it was exactly the same. Us and so many around us were ill."
Sam Fender is yet to address the cancellation on his social media channels yet.
