Sam Fender is a guy we should all be massively proud of and he showed Newcastle exactly why when he delighted a capacity crowd at O2 City Hall Newcastle on Tuesday.
Sam has become more than just a singer, he is an absolute juggernaut and from bar to bar of each song, he proved that with a set that electrified everyone in the crowd.
From the moment he arrived on stage to the strains of Local Hero, beckoned by yet another amazing display from Wor Flags, to the minute he walked off, Sam had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand, serving up a superb setlist that got off to an epic start with Will We Talk and fired on all cylinders with Getting Started and The Borders, proving what just what a force to be reckoned with he is.
Dead Boys once again gave Newcastle a real 'pin drop' moment, while the City Hall's new standing area was exercised to within an inch of its life for Howdon Aldi Death Queue and Spice.

Tuesday’s gig was made all the more poignant by the fact that not only did Sam did a shout out the North East Homeless charity who the gig was in honour of, he made sure everyone knew to donate and also celebrated the fact the show raised a colossal £133,000.
Sam Fender is a Tyneside troubadour where the sky is the limit. He said it was dream come true to be at the City Hall, but the way he's going right now…the world is most definitely his oyster.
The City Hall stage has been home to massive names over the years, from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones, but Sam has got to have given the famous venue one of its most memorable shows in its illustrious history. What a night for not only Sam, but his fantastic band too, who have rode this epic journey with him, which has brought sold out concerts across the world and wins at the Brits, NME Awards and, most recently, the Ivor Novellos.
While the whole setlist was bursting at the scenes will brilliance, the two in a row of Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under to end things was the pinnacle of proceedings - no better double header will you find ever!
Sam Fender is a lyrical genius. Top notch tracks like Spit of You and Get You Down prove that, he puts on one hell of a show and he is fully, without one shadow of a doubt, a Geordie icon. Come forward and take a bow Sam.... you have 100% earned it.
What a night, what an atmosphere...what a guy!
