The excitement of Sam Fender fans is set to reach a fever pitch next week when the Geordie star takes over St James' Park for two sold-out gigs.

The 29-year-old from North Shields will take to the stage on Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10 as he makes history as the first Geordie musician to headline the stadium.

A crowd of 55,000 people will be cheering on the Brit Award winner each night as he performs hits from his two albums, Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under.

While many Geordies will be familiar with the city's 'cathedral on the hill' from match days, a range of security measures will be in place for those attending the concerts. We have rounded up what ticket holders can expect when they arrive at St James' Park next week, according to the 'event terms and conditions' released by the club.

Can you take a bag in?

Security officers at the event will be carrying out searches of bags and people's belongings to ensure they are not taking in any banned items. Any refusal to allow such searches will result in ticket holders being refused entry to, or removed from the show.

Can you take food and drink in?

St James' Park is not allowing concert-goers to bring their own food and drink into the ground, this includes bringing in bottles and glasses.

What else is banned?

Flares, fireworks and firecrackers are banned from the venue along with smoke canisters, air horns and laser devices.

Smoking and vaping are also banned inside the stadium.

The rules issued by the ground also state "any item that might be used as a weapon or could compromise public safety" are also banned.

What are the rules for under-18s?

According to the terms and conditions for the event, children aged under 18 years may not enter the stadium unless accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over, and every person must be in possession of a valid ticket. Children aged under the age of 14 cannot enter the standing area for the event and must have a valid ticket for one of the designated seating areas.

Do you need to bring ID?

Ticket holders must bring their tickets along with their booking confirmation and the debit or credit card used for the purchase. A valid photo ID matching the name on the booking confirmation is also required. Failure to bring all of the items above will result in refusal of admission to the event.

What time do doors open?

Gates are set to open at 4pm and support acts Inhaler and Holly Humberstone are due to take to the stage at around 7.30pm. Sam Fender is set to perform at 9pm.
