Sam Fender celebrates Newcastle result in Italy with epic reaction to Champions League spot

While gutted he couldn't be there in the flesh, Sam Fender posted a brilliant reaction to Newcastle making the Champions League as he watched the game in Italy.

Seventeen Going Under star Sam had a real 'pinch me' moment last week, when having announced last year that he and his band would be supporting rock icon Bruce Springsteen in Europe, he finally got to meet his biggest musical inspiration. Sam was left in tears at getting come face to face with the man who's given the world classics like Borin the USA and Dancing in the Dark and he could well have been crying tears of joy on Monday night as United sealed their place in Europe's most famous footballing competition.

Sam has been at St James' Park on numerous occasions this series, including when he walked onto the pitch at half time of the Crystal Palace match, just a day after he announced he'd be playing two massive shows at the stadium in June.

There are now just weeks to go until the gigs the city has been counting down to, but on Monday night, Sam and hus band's attentions were firmly fixed on the TV set in front of them as they tuned into Newcastle v Leicester, knowing that United only needed a point to secure Champions League qualification.

The high scoring game many fans had been hoping for didn;t materialise but 0-0 was enough to seal the deal and, referencing the famous 'tell me ma, me ma' chant that sounded out far and wide as United made it to Wembley in February, Sam took a photo of the Newcastle players on the TV and wrote: "So proud. Howay the lads. I'm already in Italy and me ma's tea is freezing."

While Sam wasn't in the crowd at St James' Park on Monday night, fellow avid NUFC fans Ant and Dec were there and looked delighted as they posed in the crowd, with the backdrop of Wor Flags display behind them.
