Sam Fender celebrates birthday in style with band at popular Jesmond restaurant

Sam Fender enjoyed a night out at one of Newcastle's top restaurants to celebrate his 28th birthday.

The North Shields singer was joined by manager Owain Davies and members of his band for a meal at Peace & Loaf in Jesmond on Monday, April 25. Restaurant owner Bob Arora hosted the private gathering which saw Sam and his pals tuck into an 18-course tasting menu.

Bob, who also runs popular restaurant Sachins, was full of praise for the Geordie star. " Sam is a lovely, genuine guy," he said.

"His visit was a last-minute thing to celebrate his birthday. He had around 20 people there and they enjoyed an 18-course tasting menu with wine pairing."

Bob said the restaurant doesn't normally open on a Monday, but after receiving the booking request from Sam's PA, staff came in especially and spent all morning cooking for the party.

He added: "Sam absolutely loved it! Peace & Loaf is one of his favourite restaurants and over the years he has been a few times.

"He said he would also pop into Sachins next time, so that is really good. He is a nice, down-to-earth guy.

"It is lovely to see someone local doing so well. We are really proud he chose our business, when we saw the email with the booking request we were all tickled pink."

It's not the first time Sam has been spotted on a celebratory night out in the city. In September last year he enjoyed a meal at Miller and Carter after his headline show at This is Tomorrow with his band.

And few could forget the moment when Sam returned triumphantly to his North Shields local the Low Lights Tavern after winning his Brit Award for Best Rock/Alternative act. The accolade has since been turned into a beer pump that sits alongside his Rising Star Brit Award.
