Sam Allardyce's worrying issue Leeds United know he has to address to prove a success

Leeds United have appointed Sam Allardyce as Javi Gracia's replacement for the final four games of their Premier League campaign in order to try and stay in the top flight of English football.

The 68-year-old was last in charge of West Brom back in 2021 but has come back into the dugout in order to try and form a miracle survival run at the end of the season with the Whites.

However, it might be tougher than first thought. Supporters and pundits alike have been talking about how Leeds have an incredibly tough final four matches, but Allardyce's history against them isn't much to write home about either.

As pointed out by Opta Stats researcher Jonny Cooper on Twitter, the only club of the four Allardyce has a positive record against in his previous games is Newcastle United.

It's unlikely that the Whites will find a way to overcome the title contenders Manchester City this weekend, even with the fabled 'new manager bounce' as he's lost his last five matches against the Citizens. Meanwhile, he's been unable to beat West Ham and Tottenham in his old appointments - but both teams have been struggling for form in recent weeks.

If there is going to be hope of survival, the new manager is going to have to find a way to beat sides he's recently struggled getting the better of.
