Sam Allardyce has four matches to become an instant Leeds United legend. And four matches to make himself a great deal of money, if the reports are to be believed.
Tasked with saving Leeds from the drop, Big Sam will pit his wits against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City first up before Champions League-bound Newcastle visit Elland Road.
West Ham and Tottenham present slightly more winnable fixtures (if any fixture can be deemed winnable after going six games without one) and the good news for Allardyce is that the majority of the Elland Road faithful are behind him.
When asked if the decision to appoint the former Bolton, Blackburn and West Ham boss was the correct one, more than two-third of respondents (69%) to the LeedsLive poll agreed.
Fans were even more clear-cut when it came to the fate of outgoing director of football Victor Orta.
Orta has been heavily criticised for his role in appointing Javi Gracia and Jesse Marsch, with several failed high-profile signings including Jean-Kevin Augustin, Daniel James and Brenden Aaronson tarnishing the good work he did alongside Marcelo Bielsa.
Orta departed the club on Monday “by mutual consent” and an overwhelming 93% of fans believed it was the correct decision to get rid of the Spaniard.
