Salvation Army is helping protect Lanarkshire's environment through litter picking

Volunteers have been playing their part in the upkeep of their local area.

Shotts Salvation Army has been litter picking in Shotts in a bid to make the area more presentable, as well as keep themselves healthy.

The KidsAlive! group has been working hard and has started to realise the extent of the litter issue in Shotts.

They want to spread the word that this is not okay.

On a Facebook post, Shotts Salvation Army said: "Keeping our community clean is an important part of protecting the environment.

"It's how we keep our wildlife safe, and how we improve our local landscape in which we exercise for our own physical and mental health.

"Today KidsAlive! Worked hard to do their bit and they had an awful lot to say about the litter left behind by others in our community."
