In 2017 Salt Bae became famous on the internet for his renowned salt-sprinkling pose, but now his Instagram followers have been angered after he boasted about a £140,584 bill at the luxury restaurant.
The group splurged nearly £115,000 on wine alone, and a single steak from the evening cost more than £1000.
But as the cost-of-living crisis hits, and inflation soars, with millions struggling to pay for food and rent, there has been a backlash.
According to the website, starter dishes at his opulent Abu Dhabi eatery can cost up to £200 per diner.
The millionaire from Turkey is well known for his gold leaf steaks and over the top cooking repertoire, but some believe he's taken things too far.
The fourteen guests responsible for the mind-blowing bill paid £10,000 each for their meal.
The viral chef posted the receipt last night with the caption "Quality never expensive", angering his 49 million followers on Instagram.
One person said: "Seeing this bill and thinking of my patients who cannot afford the cost of their liver transplant makes me sad."
Another commented that the money would be better used feeding several thousands starving children, and that it was a waste.
A lot of commentators said they wouldn't support the chef any longer, because his post boasting about the massive bill was so out of touch.
"I was a big fan but when I saw this I was really disappointed. People are dying everyday because they can't find basic food.
"You are so proud of your bill but your native country is in mourning. So disappointed." one user commented.
In March Turkey's Consumer Rights Association released a report stating that more than 77 million people in the country were living below the poverty line, making up nearly 90 per cent of the country's population.
Salt Bae, who's real name is Nusret Gökçe, apparently grew up in a financially unstable home before opening his first restaurant in Turkey in 2010.
His father was a mineworker and he was originally born in Erzurum to a Kurdish family.
Yet during his time in sixth grade, he had to leave school and work as a butcher's apprentice in Istanbul, because his family were struggling with finances.
Due to the success of his restaurant chain, it's now estimated he has a net worth of £44million pounds as of 2021.
He has served clientele including Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Leonardo Di Caprio; and Lionel Messi.
