Salomon Rondon addresses Everton transfer future and urge to be 'important'

Salomon Rondon has addressed his immediate future at Everton and made clear that he wishes to "continue being important" for the club.

The striker made the move to Merseyside on transfer deadline day last summer, becoming the fifth arrival of that transfer window after leaving Dalian Professional. However, after Dominic Calvert-Lewin picked up an injury early in the season, the Venezuela international was thrust into the limelight earlier than expected.

Having not been up to full fitness in his first few appearances, Rondon eventually made 20 appearances in the Premier League for his new side. He scored once in an away defeat to Crystal Palace, and picked up one assist in the home draw against Leicester City.

YOUR SHOUT: HAVE YOUR SAY ON EVERTON'S SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW

With speculation surrounding many Everton players this summer, Rondon has set out his intentions for the coming months. The Striker believes he is now in good physical condition and is ready to compete.

He told Bolavip [via SportWitness ]: "I’m in good shape physically and I’m ready to continue at the highest level. I have one more year on my contract with Everton but I want to continue competing, I want to continue being important."

Rondon's final appearance of the season for Everton saw him pick up a red card late in the 3-2 defeat to Brentford at Goodison Park, leaving them with nine men to finish the game. That will mean the striker is suspended for the first match of the new season, having served two games of his suspension.
