Coles has recalled bags of baby spinach sold in the Illawarra over the potential presence of salmonella.
The recall affects 60g, 120g and 180g bags of the salad leaf, sold throughout NSW (excluding Lavington, Deniliquin and Albury), the ACT and Queensland.
The supermarket says quality testing by its supplier identified salmonella in the 120g product, but as a precaution it is recalling all baby spinach sourced from this supplier with the below use by dates.
- Coles Baby Spinach 60g Use By 13 APR 22
- Coles Baby Spinach 120g Use By 13 and 14 APR 22
- Coles Baby Spinach 280g Use By 13 and 14 APR 22
These affected products have been on sale since April 4.
Coles says no other pre-packed spinach or salad products are affected.
People are urged not to consume the affected baby spinach products, as salmonella can cause illness.
Customers can return the product to any Coles supermarket for a full refund.
Those who bought it online can receive a full refund or credit by calling 1800 455 400.
