Sally Carman looked very different from her Coronation Street character during her latest public appearance, stepping out in Manchester last night in a midi ivory dress that revealed her sleeve of stunning tattoos.
The English actor, best known for playing Abi Franklin on the ITV soap opera, looked absolutely sensational as she joined her Corrie co-stars on Tuesday evening at the show's annual summer party. Wearing a daisy-patterned white dress and sheer puffed sleeves, Sally was all smiles as she posed for the cameras before heading inside the event.
The 42-year-old accessorised the floral look with a powder blue satchel bag, pink satin heels adorned by bows and a pair of oversized pink-tinted sunglasses.
Sally's outfit went perfectly with her secretly tattooed left forearm, which has been inked with black illustrations of flowers and birds – something that's usually kept hidden when Sally appears on the Weatherfield-based soap.
It was also a major shift from the wardrobe of that of Abi Franklin, who normally appears on the cobbles in super casual jeans and tracksuits. When not in her casual gear, busy mum Abi was often dressed in navy overalls for her job as a mechanic at Webster's Autos. She also typically wears her blonde bob tied back in a ponytail or loose against her chin – a far cry from the stylish wavy locks she donned last night.
Sally wasn't the only Coronation Street star to dial up the glam factor for the snazzy affair, which was held at the upmarket Ivy restaurant in Spinningfields.
Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Platt, also took the opportunity to dress up, wearing a monochrome mini dress with a cut-out back and a pastel pink purse. The 39-year-old teamed the fun outfit with beige heels and blonde curls, as well as smokey eye makeup and a glowing tan.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Davis, who recently joined the soap as Courtney Vance, went for a green maxi dress with a leafy pattern and matching green bag. The 30-year-old, who crossed over to the cobbles after leaving Hollyoaks, completed the ensemble with strappy heels and triangular shaped earrings.
Other Coronation Street stars in attendance included Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, Jodie Prenger, who plays Glenda Shuttleworth, and Tony Maudsley, who portrays the role of George Shuttleworth on the soap.
Sally's role on Coronation Street was initially intended to be temporary, but she ended up staying on after seemingly impressing bosses and audiences alike with her performance.
"This is the brilliant thing with Coronation Street," she told OK! in 2018. "I initially came in for six episodes and now I'm on the street and have a job on the garage."
Sally married Corrie co-star Joe Duttine – who plays Tim Metcalfe – last year, after being forced to delay their wedding multiple times because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The couple celebrated five years together recently, having reportedly first started dating in 2018. Soap star Joe proposed to Sally while on a family walk with his kids, much to the soap star's surprise.
"He was talking about the Coiners, who used to hide forged coins in the dry stone walls, and told us to see if we could find any," she told Fabulous magazine when asked about the special moment. "I was totally oblivious and found the engagement ring hidden in the wall. It was really beautiful."
Coronation Street continues on Mondays and Wednesdays on ITV.
