Sunrise Caribbean, the West Indian kitchen with spots in Salford, Hulme and Bolton, is to take on a fourth site. The new shop will open its doors in Openshaw later on in the spring.
According to owners, it’ll be dishing out the same high quality Caribbean food with a ‘contemporary twist’. “It’s been something we’ve been thinking about doing for quite a while now,” said Sunrise's Kevin Roper.
It just made sense to take on a fourth. It’s definitely a blessing. We’ve not been without our struggles. This one might have opened up a lot sooner [otherwise], and it’s a tough time for everyone at the moment.

“My cousin Michelle started the business 18 years ago with a van in Salford, and from there he bought a shop in Salford, our flagship store, and from there we opened in Bolton and Hulme.
“People like that it’s a family owned business, and we live by the mantra that the customer is always right, and because of that he’s just built up a really good community and expanded on that. The building blocks of having good customer service have kept us ahead.
“Good vibes, good people. We hope to be open in the next month or so.” The original Salford branch is on Broughton Lane, with the Hulme branch at Moss Lane West and the Bolton shop on St George's Road.
The original locations are known for their Portland BBQ Chicken, jerk chicken, fried chicken, curried mutton, lamb chops, oxtail and homemade dumplings. The new shop will be found at 1317 Ashton Old Road.
