A Salford road was closed off today after a car crash, causing traffic in Swinton delays with ‘long tailbacks’.
The A666 Bolton Road was closed off at its junction with Agecroft Road at around 2:10pm this afternoon (Tuesday, January 18).
The closure was caused by a driver suffering a ‘medical episode’ at the wheel, police say.
Eyewitness reports say the incident created ‘long tailbacks’ on Bolton Road.
Those reports also said ‘six or seven’ police vehicles were in attendance and paramedics.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a man has since been taken to hospital.
No arrests have been made as of Tuesday evening, they added.
“Police were called at around 2.10pm today (January 18) to a report of a collision on Bolton Road in Swinton,” a force spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News .
The GMP statement continued: “Officers attended and enquiries established that a male had suffered a medical episode behind the wheel.
“He was taken to hospital where he remains.
“Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
Photos from the scene show multiple lanes of the road blocked by emergency vehicles as blue light workers carry out their duties.
