'Salah, against his curse' - What's on the Spanish sports newspapers' front pages before Real Madrid v Liverpool

Liverpool are in the Spanish capital ahead of their Champions League clash with Real Madrid as they look to right the wrongs of their first-leg defeat.

Los Blancos came from behind to run riot at Anfield and move into a commanding 5-2 lead thanks to braces from Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema and a header from Eder Militao. Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah had fired the Reds into a two-goal advantage but the record holders of the European Cup turned on the style after that to exploit Jurgen Klopp's side.

Liverpool need to score at least three unanswered goals tonight to take the tie beyond 90 minutes. A tough task, no doubt, but under their German manager, the Reds have already experienced European nights that will forever live in the memory, like against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League and Barcelona in the Champions League.

And long before Klopp's arrival, there were many more famous nights under the lights in Europe for the Reds, such as back in March 2009, when Rafa Benitez's side thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 at Anfield. It came after Marca's infamous headline on the morning of that match: "This is Anfield - so what?"

But what are the Spanish media saying this time around? Here is a look at what the newspaper front pages are ahead of tonight's clash (via Kiosko.net).

RED ALERT - AS

Mohamed Salah and Vinicius Jr dominate the front page of AS with the Champions League trophy in the middle with a general view of the Bernabeu dominating the front page of the Spanish newspaper, with a headline of: "Red alert."

Above the Egyptian is an excerpt, which reads: "Salah, against his curse: He never beat Madrid". And for his opposite number: "Vinicius, before his favourite victim."

LET THE GREAT NIGHTS CONTINUE - MARCA

It was Marca who questioned the intensity of Anfield on the night that Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres ran riot. But it's Erling Haaland who dominates the front page after his record-breaking showing in Manchester City's rout over RB Leipzig to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool's trip to Real Madrid only manages a small section on the right of the celebrating Norwegian. Below the headline, "let the great nights continue," is followed by, "the Bernabeu does not want scares and seeks to pass to the quarter-finals."

DON'T TRUST THE REDS - MUNDO DEPORTIVO

Mundo Deportivo know all too well the quality of Liverpool in the Champions League after witnessing Barcelona capitulate at Anfield back in 2019.

Barca dominate the front page but there is a small section for the big match at the Bernabeu. "Los Blancos get Benzema back but don't trust the Reds despite the 2-5," it reads.

LIVERPOOL DREAMS WITH THE MIRACLE AT THE BERNABEU - SPORT

Spanish newspaper Sport sees Gerard Pique dominate the front page but on a small section on the bottom right notes Liverpool's "dream for a Bernabeu miracle."

Real Madrid are synonymous with the Champions League and the record holders defied the odds against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City on their way to beating the Reds in last season's final in Paris.
