Health secretary Sajid Javid has brutally roasted his predecessor, Matt Hancock by thanking “the CCTV guy at the Department of Health” while accepting a political comeback of the year award.
After winning Comeback of the Year at The Spectators’ annual Parliamentarian of the Year Awards the new health secretary reportedly wanted to thank those who had helped him get the role and listed them as being: “The Prime Minister, my wife... and the CCTV guy at the Department of Health”.

It comes after Hancock was forced to resign as health secretary earlier this year after he broke his own social distancing rules by kissing his aide.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras in his office and leaked to the press. Javid was then appointed to the role.

Elsewhere in the awards, former prime minister Theresa May was awarded Backbencher of the Year, and she collected the prize to ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ - which was a nod to her much analysed at the time 2018 Tory Party conference dance.
On a more serious note, Jacob Rees-Mogg also accepted the Parliamentarian of the Year award on behalf of David Amess, who was recently killed in his constituency office.
Accepting it, he said: “Those of us who believe in the intercessions of the saints know that there is a martyr in heaven who will intercede for us, who will stand up not just for the people of Basildon and the people of Southend, but for all of us. And will be doing so in the grace of God.”
Hancock did not receive any awards, sadly for him.
