Sajid Javid joins investment firm Centricus as senior adviser

Investment firm Centricus has confirmed that it has hired former Chancellor Sajid Javid as a senior adviser.

Bloomberg reported last week that Javid was set to join the firm, but the move, which is effective from today, has only now been confirmed by Centricus.

Centricus Asset Management CEO Josh Purvis said the former Chancellor and Home Secretary’s experience of global markets would help him succeed in the role.

“We are delighted to welcome Sajid to Centricus as a senior adviser, and we look forward to drawing upon his in-depth understanding and experience in global markets and international business to help guide our global strategy,” he said.

Before becoming an MP in 2010, Javid was an investment banker, holding positions including managing director at Deutsche Bank.

The move has been approved by the Cabinet Office’s Advisory Committee on Business Appointments, which deals with roles taken by former ministers and senior civil servants.

While Javid has not been a government minister since resigning as Health Secretary in July of last year, he remains the MP for Bromsgrove.
