The Saints and Eagles both exited the NFL draft without adding a starter to the roster at the safety position, and with both teams engulfed in OTAs and minicamps, New Orleans is reportedly renewing their interest in Tyrann Mathieu.
According to Adam Schefter, the Saints will aggressively revisit their pursuit of the New Orleans native and LSU star.
After failing to land a safety during the draft, the Saints now are expected to re-visit their talks with free-agent Pro-Bowl safety Tyrann Mathieu and make an aggressive push to try to add him to their roster, per sources. Mathieu was born and raised in New Orleans.

A two-time first-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl selection who has logged 26 career interceptions, 76 passes defended, 610 tackles, and 10 sacks in nine seasons for the Chiefs, Houston Texans, and Arizona Cardinals, who selected him in the third round of the 2013 draft.
A swiss army knife in the secondary, Mathieu would give Jonathan Gannon the weapon he needs in the secondary, while still allowing Anthony Harris to play towards his strengths on the backend.
Since joining Kansas City in 2019, Mathieu has played over 600 snaps at FS, as a SS in the box and as a slot defender.
