The New Orleans Saints put in a request to interview Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn early this week. That should come as no surprise. Even if Glenn isn’t the next Saints head coach, New Orleans was going to talk to him. It was just a matter of when, not if.
We now have an answer to the question of when will the Saints meet with Glenn. Per senior NFL insider Josina Anderson, that interview will take place on Friday.
Because the Lions have a first round bye in the NFL playoffs, all Lions personnel can interview for vacant head coaching positions. The one caveat is those meetings have to be virtual.
Glenn is making the most of his week. The New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears all requested interviews with the coordinator. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Glenn would conduct those interviews between Thursday to Saturday.
The Saints find themselves in the Friday slot. Any of Glenn’s interviews that go well will likely result in an in-person interview after the Lions’ season is over.
