Saints request interview with Giants’ Mike Kafka for head coaching position

New York Giants assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has been a hot commodity on the head coaching circuit for the past two seasons, and that trend will continue in 2025.

The Chicago Bears have already requested an interview with Kafka for their vacant head coaching position and now the New Orleans Saints have done the same, reports Josina Anderson.

Kafka, 37, joined the Giants in 2022 after five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was originally given the role of offensive play-caller but head coach Brian Daboll seized those responsibilities this past season to disastrous results.

Despite his many reasons to gripe, Kafka has remained professional and publicly said all the right things.

“I know you guys had some questions to Dabes about like my future and all that stuff. So, I just wanted to address it really quick,” he told reporters last week. “Obviously, I love being here and I love working for Dabes and everybody. My only focus really is just on Philadelphia, the coaches, the players, and getting ready to play a great game and build on what we did last week.”

Kafka is under contract with the Giants for one more season but wouldn’t hesitate to leave for a leading role.
