Saints assistant Declan Doyle to coach Senior Bowl tight ends prospects

We now know what another one of the New Orleans Saints coaches will be doing at the upcoming Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.. Offensive assistant Declan Doyle was announced as the American Team’s tight ends coach for the event, where he’ll work with 2023 draft prospects for a week of practices leading up to the college all-star game.

The American Team tight ends include:

  • Cameron Latu, Alabama
  • Will Mallory, Miami
  • Luke Musgrave, Oregon State
  • Brayden Willis, Oklahoma

This year, the Senior Bowl coaching staffs for the American Team and National Team will be composed of assistant coaches from around the NFL, rather than the entire coaching staff of two teams. Saints passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ronald Curry has already been announced as the National Team’s offensive coordinator, and there are two other assistants from New Orleans who will be joining him and Doyle. We’ll share details on them once their names and assignments have been made public.

At any rate, this is a great opportunity for these Saints coaches to get more experience and to familiarize themselves with some up-and-coming players from the college level. That should go a long way towards filling out scouting reports with the 2023 draft on the horizon. New Orleans averaged just 19.4 points per game last season, which ranked 22nd in the NFL, so they need the inside track on as much help on offense as they can get.
