Saint Gilloise star in smirking Rangers Champions League draw reaction as he delivers 'nothing to lose' battle cry

Grinning Union Saint Gilloise star Dante Vanzeir insists the pressure is all on Rangers after giving his instant reaction to drawing the Ibrox side in the third round of Champions League qualifying.

Boss Gio van Bronckhorst will be aiming for another extended European season once again after reaching a the Europa League final last term, with his sights firmly set on securing a Champions League place among Europe’s elite for Rangers after more than a decade of waiting. The Jupiler Pro League side are making their debut in the competition having narrowly missed out on a shock Belgian title win last season.

The club have skyrocketed to success having only returned to the top flight in 2021 following a 48-year absence, with their last league title win coming in 1935. However, the club will be hoping that incredible momentum carries on into the new campaign with tricky winger Vanzeir, who netted 13 goals last term, desperate to see his side make their mark on European football in the year ahead.

The 24-year-old reckons the clash in Belgium at the 9400-seater Stade Joseph Marien could be the difference-maker between the sides as he watched the draw live. Speaking to HLN, Vanzeir said: “It's (a game that is) difficult to estimate. It is a nice team for us.

"We have to be 100 percent ready. At home we go all out for that victory. We want to keep the zero then go away. We have nothing to lose in Europe in the end."

When pushed on if he thought his side could see off Rangers, he added: "Why not? I think we should go home for the win. That's our chance to prove something."
