The final bank holiday of May is nearly upon us with many able to enjoy a day off on Monday, May 29.
As of writing, the weather is looking promising over the weekend so those who get the day off may be able to enjoy a day in the sun.
However, it's business as usual for many supermarkets on the late May bank holiday.
All of Sainsbury's 600 supermarkets and 800 convenience stores will be open over the weekend including the bank holiday Monday itself.
However, its opening times will change slightly on Monday.
So if you need to make a last-minute dash to Sainsbury's for some BBQ bits for the bank holiday we explain what opening times you can expect before you grab your bag for life.
Sainsbury’s opening times late May bank holiday 2023
The supermarket chain has confirmed that its stores will remain open as normal on Friday May 26, Saturday May 27 and Sunday May 28.
Sainsbury’s superstores typically open at either 6am or 7am and normally shut at either 10pm or 11pm, Monday to Saturday.
Then on Sunday, superstores are normally open from 10am until 4pm in England and Wales.
There are different trading rules in Scotland and Sainsbury’s stores are typically open from 7am or 8am until 8pm or 10pm.
These are the opening times you should expect over the weekend.
But on Monday (May 29) when the bank holiday arrives, superstores in England and Wales will open under shorter hours.
Most of Sainsbury's bigger stores will be open from 8am until 8pm - so roughly two hours earlier than usual.
As rules are different in Scotland, superstores will remain open under normal hours this Monday.
Sainsbury’s Local convenience stores are scheduled to be open from 7am until either 10pm or 11pm this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
As opening times do vary across Sainsbury's stores the supermarket chain says people should check their store locator on its website to double check.
There is nothing worse, or more disappointing then heading down to the shop to find out its closed.
You can check your local store by entering your postcode or sharing your location with your device.
