A leading supermarket chain has issued a product recall for an item of jewellery - amid warnings of a chemical risk. Sainsbury’s has issued a recall notice for its Beeline three pack of silver stud earrings due to them containing a ‘higher than acceptable’ level of nickel.
The retailer says the levels of nickel release pose a ‘chemical risk’ to customers and is urging people not to wear the jewellery. People are being asked to return the earrings to their nearest store where a full refund will be issued.
A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said: “Sainsbury's is supporting its partner Beeline who is recalling its three pack of stud earrings branded accessories. The earrings contain above the legal limit of nickel which can cause sensitisation.

“We are asking customers who have purchased the above product not to use them and to return them to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund. No other products have been affected by the issue.
“Sainsbury's and Beeline would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.” The products have been on sale at Sainsbury’s stores since June this year and have a barcode number 050261465403.
The product recall notice described the risk level as "serious". For any concerns or queries or customers who are unable to return the goods to store should call Sainsbury’s careline on 0800 028 8303.
