Supermarkets are more than just a place you go to do your weekly food shop. Some can serve as a one-stop shop for picking up clothes, kitchenware, stationery and more, often at lower prices than standalone high street clothes stores.
With the country in the iron grip of a deepening cost of living crisis, the British public are always open to cost-cutting ways or methods to save money. Sainsbury’s is one supermarket whose clothing range often takes front and centre in its shopping stores.
One of Sainsbury’s dresses - the Pink Puff Sleeve Poplin Midi Dress - priced at just £22 is being hailed as this summer’s dress. It is the toast of influencers on Instagram, who cannot stop raving about it.

Four fashion experts took to Instagram to share their thoughts. @stripeycoral, @carolem_beauty, @carolinesstylehacks and @fashionabell_, who have a combined 160 thousand followers between them, advertised this eye-catching product on the Tu clothing account.
Sainsbury’s have described the v-neck midi dress as “made from pure cotton, this poplin midi dress in a bold pink hue with puff sleeves is an eye-catching style for the season ahead. Team with a denim jacket and a pair of chunky white trainers.”
It is the Tu dress’s versatility and cost that seems to make it a big winner and must-have for fashionistas across the country. It has been reviewed six times on the Tu website, giving the dress a clean sweep of five stars.
Comments left include “Love this dress fits nice over bust and very flattering” and “I bought a size 16 and it fits true to size. Very comfortable to wear, dresses up or down! Looks great with sandals or trainer type shoes . Ironing is a task but very worth it as it didn’t crease too much when worn. Love it!”
Replying to the Instagram post, one of the foursome, @stripeycoral, said: “Thank you! It’s such a great summer dress”. @peonie.cole.cottage wrote: “It’s so gorgeous” while @twig_the_wonder_kid stated “Found one today in my local Sainsbury's! Could not believe my luck.”
If pink isn’t your colour, there are other options that may be more your bag. The Blue Puff Sleeve Midi Dress in a sky-blue colourway is also another super versatile colour.
