(Picture: Met Police)The Met Police has issued a renewed appeal for a schoolgirl who disappeared nearly 10 months ago.
On March 9, 2022, Saidatu Jalloh, was reported missing by staff at her school in Lambeth.
Saidatu, who was aged 14 at the time but would now be 15, had been registered at the school since January 24, 2022.
In a statement released on January 5, 2023, the Met said: “In December, a routine review of the case determined that having exhausted most realistic lines of enquiry, Saidatu’s image should be published to seek the public’s assistance.
“Releasing images of children is not a decision that is taken lightly.
“Public appeals can leave a lasting digital trail and can have a significant impact on those whose image and information is put into the public domain.
“It is a step that is used only when there is an imminent risk of harm or when other lines of enquiry have been exhausted.
“This remains a live investigation. We are keen to trace Saidatu to confirm she is safe and well and that she is in the care of appropriate adults.”
The Met said officers visited the address given to Saidatu’s school after she was reported missing but were told that she had been picked up by her mother and was no longer staying there.
Officers attempted to locate Saidatu’s mother based on the details provided but no record of her could be found.
Further checks also found no record of anyone matching Saidatu’s name and details entering the UK.
On December 8, 2022, Lambeth Police issued an appeal for the missing teen, adding that she “may be anywhere in the UK".
