SAG Awards 2022: All the winners as Dame Helen Mirren wins Lifetime Achievement Award

It was a night of glitz and glamour in Los Angeles on Sunday as some of the world's biggest stars attended the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Several presenters and award recipients used the platform to express solidarity with the people of Ukraine during the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Veteran actor Michael Douglas wore a handkerchief in the yellow and blue of the Ukrainian flag, while stars such as Tyler Perry wore yellow and blue ribbons in support of the Ukrainian people.

As the awards were announced it turned out to be a relatively unsuccessful night's work for British stars of the screen.

However, Dame Helen Mirren did walk away with the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.

In a humorous speech the Oscar-winning actress, 76, joked she liked to "think inside the box" as she dedicated the accolade to her fellow actors.

Accepting the award from Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett, Dame Helen was described as "acting royalty".

And she started her speech by joking: "Lifetime achievement, that sounds so grand. I suppose I'm alive so by that measure I'm eligible."

She continued: "But honestly any achievement that I've succeeded in is a result of my mantra which is basically 'be on time and don't be an a**'.

"Thank you SAG, I hate to say the word sag at my age, it's always S A G for me.

"I'm simultaneously enormously proud but I'm riven with the understanding that I absolutely do not deserve this."
