The NFL preseason is ultimately meaningless when it comes to actual ramifications for the regular season, so teams can get a little weird with things if they want just for the heck of it.
Case in point: the Kansas City Chiefs let safety Justin Reid kick an extra point on a touchdown in the third quarter of the team’s home Saturday preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.
This is absolutely the kind of delightful nonsense that preseason is for, and it was made even better by Reid nailing the kick and putting a point on the board for Kansas City with his foot.
We absolutely need more non-kickers taking kicks in the NFL preseason.

Hey, when the game is made up and the points don’t matter, you might as well have some fun. Who’s kick is it anyway, am I right?
Reid can now count himself as an emergency place kicker for extra points in the regular season since he’s got compelling tape to prove his skills.
