Safety fears for man missing from home on remote South Australian cattle station

A search is underway for a man missing from a cattle station in South Australia's far north.

The alarm was raised on Sunday when a man was reported missing after a regular welfare check at his property located at a large cattle station near Marla.

Police confirmed local officers were searching on land and PolAir would be doing an aerial search.

Nine State Emergency Service volunteers have been deployed to the search from Coober Pedy and Adelaide.

Authorities describe the area as "rugged terrain" and weather conditions are expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius today.

Marla is a remote town in South Australia's north-west around 970 kilometres from the state's capital Adelaide.
