The loss of a popular cat in one Nottinghamshire town has left locals feeling ‘heartbroken.’ The black cat, George has been described as ‘friendly’ and ‘curious.’
A post on Facebook, which has over 700 reactions and dozens of comments, announced the death of George. A part of the statement said: “It's with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have to write this message.that sadly George was found yesterday afternoon around 1.30pm
"We didn't want to believe it was you! But unfortunately the vets confirmed the worst late yesterday afternoon.”

The statement continued: “We would like to give a huge thank you to Olivia and the team at Vets4pets for their amazing kindness,help and support at this very sad time
"George has had a very happy life with all the love, warmth and kindness from everyone in Beeston.”
The statement continued to state that George was loved by many. People in Beeston shared their condolences to the popular cat.
Angela Graham, 47 from Beeston is a sales assistant - who was very fond of George.
She said: “George was a cat who would go up to anyone. He had accompanied me home a good few times before, he really was the best town cat.”
Angela continued: “My kids loved him too! We don’t have a cat so they’d always call to George when we saw him out and about.
"George was curious and friendly, he loved people."
George isn’t the only popular cat in Beeston - with Joey the Derby Street cat also being loved by the locals. Simon Thompson, 66 said: “Everyone loves George. He was a friendly black cat who many of the school children especially loved and shop keepers.
“He was a famous face in Beeston.”
