Saidq Khan lays a wreath at the memorial
(Picture: PA)Sadiq Khan has paid tribute to those who tragically lost their lives during the July 7 bombings 17 years ago.
As he marked the day, Mr Khan laid a wreath at the memorial on Thursday for the 52 people who lost their lives on the fateful day.
Honouring their memory, Mr Khan said London “will always stand united against the evils of terrorism”.
In a statement, the mayor added: “Today is a day for remembrance as we honour the 52 people whose lives were taken and the more than 700 who were injured by the abhorrent terrorist attacks on our city on 7 July 2005.
“It’s important to also pay tribute to the heroes who came to London’s aid that day.

“From emergency service workers and staff on our transport network, to the extraordinary members of the public who ran towards danger without hesitation to save lives and help those in need. Our city is in their debt.
“London will always stand united against the evils of hatred and terrorism and our values of freedom and mutual respect will always prevail over those who seek to divide us.”
On July 7, four suicide bombers launched coordinated attacks which rocked the capital.
At just before 8.50am, three bombs were detonated on Tube trains at Edgware Road, Aldgate and Russell Square.
A fourth bomb went off on a double-decker bus in Tavistock Square, not far from King’s Cross station.
Mohammad Sidique Khan, 30; Shehzad Tanweer, 22; Germaine Lindsay, 19 and Hasib Hussain, 18, were responsible for the attack.
As well as the 52 people who died, more than 700 were injured following the attack.
The London Fire Brigade also paid marked the day.
