Sadio Mane has made his affection for the Liverpool staff known after sending packages to all the club's employees.
That covers some 150 people, whose roles range from security guards to the tea ladies. The Senegal star recently left Anfield after six seasons and joined Bayern Munich but has departed with a touching gesture. The packages each included a hand written card as well as chocolates and a portrait of Mane, according to Bild.
The forward enjoyed huge success during his time on Merseyside having joined from Southampton in the summer of 2016. Mane was Jurgen Klopp's first major signing and helped them win the Premier League and Champions League during his time, which saw him score 120 times.
But with his contract winding down Mane has opted to pursue a new challenge in Germany. He moved for over £30m and will help the Bavarians as they look to continue dominating domestically following the departure of Robert Lewandowski.
Already Mane has scored twice for his new employers, who have won both their Bundesliga games thus far. However his feeling for Liverpool remains strong and, in an exit interview, he made that clear whilst maintaining he will now be the club's "No 1 fan" going forward.
He said: "That was the plan from the beginning because for me, to leave Liverpool in a very good way, that is me because how I have been there. It was fantastic in the club, in the dressing room. I am friendly with everybody, the coaching staff and even the kitchen staff, the ladies in the kitchen! So, for me leaving in a good way is so, so important – and [for] the fans as well."
Mane also added: "For sure, I think whoever is leaving Liverpool, with those supporters you will always miss them because so far [they are] the best in the world and I have always said it. Especially when [they sing] my name, ‘Mane! Running down the wing…!’ – I don’t know, I can’t sing very well! Of course I really enjoyed the time and they, wow… how can I say it?
"Playing at Anfield I think always gives you so much power because of the fans. So, for sure I am going to miss you guys but anyway, I love you guys. I still have my house in Liverpool and everything so for sure I will come back, of course, and I would love one day to come back to Anfield to say hi to them and of course to watch Liverpool playing because for me, I am going to be Liverpool’s No.1 fan – after the supporters!"
