Sadio Mane and six other players who may never feature for Liverpool again

When Divock Origi stepped off the field at Southampton last month, it marked the end of an era at Liverpool.

Nobody knew at the time, least of all the player himself, but Origi's 25-minute appearance from the bench would be his final appearance for the Reds, robbed of a final flourish by the injury that ruled him out of the final two games of the campaign.

With the Belgian approaching the end of his contract, it had already been accepted he would move on in the summer, Italy and AC Milan his expected destination.

Origi isn't the only free agent, with Ben Woodburn, Sheyi Ojo, Elijah Dixon-Bonner and Loris Karius also preparing for pastures new having previously represented the Liverpool first team. But there is less certainty over a number of other players who could yet leave in the forthcoming transfer window.

Sadio Mane

The Senegalese is one of several Liverpool players approaching the last 12 months of his contract. Bayern Munich are reported to be interested, but the Reds will only entertain offers far in excess of the €30million the Bundesliga side are said to be considering. Mane himself continues to be coy over his future, albeit while dropping hints left, right and centre.

James Milner

As things stand, the newly-anointed MBE will become a free agent at the end of the month. Jurgen Klopp wants the veteran midfielder to stay for another year, with the player himself admitting it would be "silly" to turn down the offer. It depends, though, on Milner having a chance of minutes on the pitch. No decision has yet been confirmed.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The 28-year-old featured regularly - if often from the bench - during the first two-thirds of the season but didn't play a single minute in the last two months and failed to make even the matchday squad on 10 occasions. Another soon to be in the last year of his contract.

Takumi Minamino

The Japan international had opportunities during the late autumn and early winter, and ended the season with a respectable 10 goals from 24 outings. However, he made just three appearances after February and, as with Oxlade-Chamberlain, regularly failed to make the 20-man cut. A number of clubs are believed to be ready to test Liverpool's resolve in the coming weeks.

Joe Gomez

The defender endured a frustrating season having recovered from a serious knee injury, restricted to just 11 starts and not on the bench for the League Cup final win over Chelsea. There has been no suggestion of agitation for a transfer but, with the World Cup approaching at the end of the year and Gomez keen to regain his place in the squad, the England international could be tempted by regular first-team football elsewhere.

Nat Phillips

Phillips, who was so integral last season in the midst of the Reds' centre-back injury crisis, made just three appearances during the first half of the campaign before a successful loan spell at Bournemouth during which he helped the Cherries to promotion back to the Premier League. Liverpool are asking for around £15m, with Bournemouth and others pondering a permanent transfer.

Neco Williams

The Welsh right-back managed eight appearances before spending four months on loan at Fulham, where he was a huge success with the Cottagers winning the Championship. The fierce competition for places in the Liverpool defence may see him leave, with Fulham contemplating a permanent move.
